David Anderson recently graduated from Michigan State University with his Master’s Degree in vocal performance in 2019 where he also attained his bachelor’s degree studying under Richard Fracker. While attending MSU, David performed multiple leading roles for MSU Opera Theatre, most notably as Sam Kaplan in Street Scene and Dorvil in La Scala di Seta. Other notable performances during his time at MSU includes his performances as the tenor soloist in Handel’s Messiah at the Wharton Center, and his featured appearance in the MSU-China Vocal Collaboration Program. Outside of MSU, he attended Seagle Music Colony where he performed the role of Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby. Professionally, David has held the roles of Borsa in Rigoletto and Captain Tarnitz in the Student Prince with Opera Grand Rapids. Most recently, he was selected as a semi finalist in the Lotte Lenya Competition and also was selected as an Apprentice Artist with Palm Beach Opera as well as a Young Artist with Opera Saratoga.
Since being a Young Artist with the companies mentioned above, David made the hard decision to switch career paths. The choice has been rewarded by finding his path as a Financial Advisor with Principal Financial Group where he earned the Pacesetter Achievement award after his first six months in the industry. Along with his new career, David has enjoyed settling down in Michigan where he was born and raised to have ample time with his family and significant other, as well as enjoying his favorite pastimes which are hunting, fishing, and golf.
